HAND DELIVERY OF DOCUMENTS

AVAILABILITY

Due to recent USPTO automation projects and the creation of digital records, ALL documents delivered to the Patent Office must be scanned.

The long-standing practice of hand delivering documents is now prohibited. There is one (and only one) exeption to this new rule: A Petition to Withdraw from Issue may be hand-carried to the Office of Petitions.

Please see the summary below or telephone our office for more specific information concerning the hand delivery of your documents to various locations within the USPTO.

Patent Documents

Technology Centers: Since the relocation of the USPTO patent examiners (and support staff) to the new facility on Eisenhower Avenue, it is no longer possible for us to deliver documents directly to Group Receptionists. Delivery will be restricted to the main USPTO Mail Room.
Specific Examiners: Due to relocation and automation it will no longer be possible for us to deliver documents to specific patent examiners. Instead, delivery to the main USPTO Mail Room, If you have made arrangements with an examiner to accept a Paper, please read the notes at the bottom of the page relating to this type of delivery.
Office of Petitions: Petitions to Withdraw from Issue will be accepted for hand delivery at the Office of Petitions. ALL other Petitions must be delivered to the main Mail Room at the USPTO, i.e. delivery will be refused by the Office of Petitions. It is our experience that no exceptions to this rule will be permitted.

Trademark Documents

Delivery to specific Law Offices is no longer permitted. Delivery to Examining Attorneys is no longer permitted. All trademark documents with the exception of those intended for the TTAB must be routed through the Trademark Mail Room.

Delivery of documents to the TTAB is allowed.

When Available...

When this service is available, the following fees will apply:

FEES

Delivery to Eisenhower Mailroom: $35.00
Delivery to TTAB: $75.00
Delivery to USPTO Examiners: (minimum charge) $75.00

All fees include fax back of your post card receipt.

PLEASE NOTE: Whenever possible please notify us that a courier package for hand delivery is en-route. We can then contact you if the package is not delivered.

WEIGHT SURCHARGES: The above rates apply to the delivery of envelopes and small packages. A $150.00 surcharge will be applied to the delivery of all boxes weighing over ten pounds. This surcharge will be assessed PER BOX.
